How does our media depict certain social groups?

The key character in our media production is the Detective Adrian Sykes, he is a detective who is highly skilled in his areas but is also takes his job very seriously and sometimes gets too much into the job at stake and this can come to cost him in certain circumstances. He is flawed because he has a family history that has been linked with serial killers killing them as Sykes gets closer to the killer, this way he has a flaw and is always looking over his shoulder to be cautious about the killer.
We can see a comparison between our character t that of Morgan Freeman’s character in ‘se7en’ this character is also a highly skilled detective but in his case is retiring and is at the opposite end of the age spectrum compared to Sykes. The character is flawed in the way that his job is his life and has nothing else going on concerning his life, no romance, children or any social life for that matter. Both these characters are of a fairly similar build and dress in a similar way in suits.
You can also compare the character of Sykes to that of Al Pacino in the movie ‘heat’ (1995) again Al Pacino plays the role of a detective in this movie and is also of a very high skill set which is seen by his badges and skills when using a gun and combat. Although our character is played by a 17 year old, in an ideal world we would have the character be played by somebody in their mid 30’s, this way the person has a specific persona about them that makes them suitable for the role. They are middle aged and have the intelligence and experience in order to play the role perfectly.

Our other character in the opening of the movie is Crimson Deray a dark psychopath and serial killer, the character resembles that of a stereotypical serial killer and physocpath, always being suspicious and creepy and wondering when they are going to next appear. We see this from our character when he constantly pops up behind Detective Sykes.
we can link this character and compare him to that of Donnie Wahlbergs character in ‘sicth sense’ although he is short lived in this film it explains he has a mental disorder similar to the main child. He is similar to Crimson as they are both very suspicious and unpredictable, but at the same time very clever. This is shown by him turning up at Bruce Willis’ house and entering the bathroom, then killing himself. This is creepy and unpredictable; this represents the unstable nature of people with mental health issues and shows that people deal with it in different ways, as is the same with Crimson Deray.
